The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Waterloo man following a complaint in the village earlier this month.
Deputies say 30-year-old Steven Galea was taken into custody around 1:15 a.m. on September 17 after being found asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle at a local business.
Investigators say Galea was arrested for driving while impaired by drugs after field sobriety tests were conducted. A search of his vehicle also turned up a quantity of suspected fentanyl, leading to an additional charge of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Galea is scheduled to appear in Waterloo Town Court.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
