A Waterloo man was arrested early Sunday on a petit larceny charge, the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Deputies arrested 57-year-old Steven Smith at around 1:00 a.m. Jan. 11 in the Town of Waterloo. The charge stems from an incident on Dec. 16, 2025, in which Smith is alleged to have stolen merchandise from a local business.
Smith was taken to the Seneca County Law Enforcement Center for processing. He was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Town of Waterloo Court at a later date to answer the charge.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
