Update: 2 Arrested after Auburn Robbery Leads to Shelter in Place

More information has been released on Sunday’s armed robbery in the City of Auburn that led to a shelter-in-place order.

Police report responding to the area of Orchard and James Streets after learning of the robbery around 2:30p.

The victim told them a man approached them from behind while visiting the upper apartment at 10 Orchard Street and placed a gun against their head. When ordered, the victim then turned over $60.00 in cash and a cellphone.

A second man then put them in a headlock while the first beat the victim with a metal cane. The victim was able to escape and call 911.

Police then arrived at the home where they cordoned off the area. Those in the apartment were able to be detained without incident and a search of the property turned up a .357 caliber revolver and a metal cane.

Darryl Jones and Michael Barski, both of 10 Orchard Street, were charged with Assault. Jones was additionally charged with Robbery and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon.

A robbery led to a shelter-in-place order from the Auburn Police Department.

The order Sunday afternoon was for residents on Orchard Street near James Street.  Police arrested a person after a standoff at an Orchard Street home.
