Two Seneca County residents are facing charges after allegedly stealing merchandise from a business in the town of Tyre and fleeing the scene.

The Sheriff’s Department was able to catch up with the car in Seneca Falls that 28-year-old Brianna Velez, of Waterloo, and 23-year-old Matthew Garneau were able to flee the scene in. During the investigation, deputies say they found a quantity of suspected Fentanyl from Garneau’s car along with other drug paraphernalia.

Velez and Garneau are each charged with petit larceny and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Seneca County Narcotics Unit, Waterloo Police Department and New York State Police
