Penn Yan police arrested 22-year-old Dameyon Miller and 23-year-old Kara Dougherty following a disturbance in the Village.
According to police, what started as a verbal argument between the two escalated into a physical altercation, with Miller allegedly making unwanted physical contact with Dougherty in front of children. Dougherty was also charged after reportedly blocking Miller from leaving and withholding his car keys.
Miller faces two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and harassment in the second degree. He was taken to the Yates County Jail for arraignment. Dougherty was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and unlawful imprisonment in the second degree.
Both are expected to appear in Village Court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation; the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
