Penn Yan Police arrested 31-year-old Gabrielle Nemeth and 60-year-old Angela Nemeth, both of Dundee, after a report of unpaid items at a local grocery store’s self-checkout.
Officers found the two in the parking lot loading groceries into their car. While they were able to show a receipt, it only covered a small portion of the items they had taken. Police also identified Gabrielle and Angela as suspects in a previous theft at the same store.
Both were taken to the police department for processing and later released on appearance tickets for two counts of petit larceny.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation; the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
