On Monday, deputies with the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office arrested Edward Carter for allegedly conspiring to bring contraband into the Seneca County Correctional Facility. The investigation continued into Tuesday, when Krystin Carter was also taken into custody in connection with the same incident.
The arrests stem from an investigation into an incident that occurred last Saturday at approximately 6:30 p.m. Corrections staff informed deputies that contraband had been introduced into the jail during contact visitation. Authorities allege that Krystin Carter possessed and distributed approximately 20 Zyn nicotine pouches to Edward Carter, who is currently an inmate at the facility on unrelated charges.
Both individuals have been charged with Promoting Prison Contraband in the Second Degree and Conspiracy in the Sixth Degree.
Edward Carter was processed by correctional staff and issued an appearance ticket. Krystin Carter was transported to the Seneca County Correctional Facility for processing and was later released on an appearance ticket.
Both are scheduled to appear in Romulus Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
