The investigation into a suspicious vehicle parked in front of a former business that is permanently closed in the village of Bath resulted in the arrest of two people.
Bath Police report a woman was observed in the driver’s seat of the vehicle, slumped over at the wheel. When an officer made contact with the people inside the car to check on them, a controlled substance was found.
The two people inside the car, 32-year-old Tony Cole and 31-year-old Jennifer Benson, were both detained for further investigation.
After further investigation, a large amount of controlled substances were found in the car and on Cole and Benson.
Cole was charged with a felony count of criminal possession of a controlled substance and two misdemeanor counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Benson was charged with two felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and a misdemeanor count of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Both were released on appearance tickets.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
