Two Tompkins County residents were taken into police custody after drugs and a gun were found in a car during a traffic stop.
The passenger in the car, 29-year-old Michael Gilmore, of Ithaca, was known to be wanted on warrants. When police were taking Gilmore into custody, they allegedly found .380 ammunition and drug paraphernalia in the car. A further search turned up a .380 semi-automatic pistol, a vial police suspected to contain methamphetamine, a crack pipe, and additional ammunition under the passenger seat where Gilmore was seated. It was also discovered that Gilmore was allegedly hiding three plastic vials of suspected heroin and fentanyl in his underwear.
Gilmore and the driver of the car, 60-year-old Terri Meddaugh, of Lansing, were both charged with felony criminal possession of a weapon and misdemeanor criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Both were sent to Tompkins County Jail following their arraignments.
