The Ithaca-Tompkins Specialized Response Team, which is made up of Ithaca Police Department officers and Tompkins County Sheriff’s Deputies, arrested two men they believe are responsible for the sales of illegal firearms and drugs in the city of Ithaca.
A search warrant executed Thursday on a residence and car in Newfield turned up an illegally possessed shotgun and handgun along with drugs and money from drug sales.
60-year-old Joe Hawes and 47-year-old George Green, Junior, were each arrested on the following charges:
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree, illegal possession of a handgun, a Class C felony
- Criminal of a Weapon 4th Degree, illegal possession of a shotgun, a Class A misdemeanor
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree, possession of a narcotic drug weighing more than four ounces, a Class AII Felony
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, possession with the intent to sell, a Class B Felony
Hawes and Green were held for arraignment in the Tompkins Centralized Arraignment Court
