The investigation into the fraudulent purchase of a vehicle in Seneca County has resulted in the arrest of two Seneca Falls residents.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, 44-year-old Joseph Smith and 37-year-old Tanya Rush allegedly worked together to forge another person’s signature on the purchase contract for a vehicle without that individual’s consent. Both are charged with forgery, possession of a forged instrument, identity theft, and three counts of conspiracy.
After arraignment, Smith was sent to the Seneca County Jail pending an upcoming hearing on previous felony convictions while Rush was released on an appearance ticket.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
