An early morning traffic stop in the city of Auburn resulted in a felony arrest.
At around 3 a.m. Tuesday, Auburn Police conducted a traffic stop on Wall Street. During the investigation, it was discovered that Kenneth Shelton was allegedly in possession of multiple white chunk substances, drug paraphernalia, and a quantity of cash. Shelton was subsequently taken into custody without issue. The substances were tested and did yield positive results for crack cocaine. The quantities were further weighed by members of the Auburn Police Department and yielded a total weight of 3.8 grams.
Shelton was charged with two felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Shelton was processed on his charges and later transported to the Cayuga County Jail pending arraignment.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
