A traffic stop on Dunning Avenue in the city of Auburn resulted in a felony arrest.
According to Auburn Police, Kayshawn Jenkins was allegedly driving with a suspended license. While interviewing Jenkins, paraphernalia consistent with drug sales was observed by officers in plain view. Jenkins provided consent to police to search the car and officers reported they located a bag containing a white powdery substance that later tested positive for cocaine base.
Jenkins was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, along with misdemeanor aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
Jenkins was sent to Cayuga County Jail to await arraignment.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
