A Tompkins County woman was arrested under Leandra’s Law following a motor vehicle accident in the city of Ithaca.
The accident happened at around 7:30 Saturday night in the area of North Meadow and Third streets. Witness reported that the driver at fault was driving erratically and fled the scene before police arrived.
Officers eventually located the driver, Elvira Good, of Newfield, at a nearby business. She was allegedly found to be intoxicated and had a five-year-old passenger in the car at the time of the accident.
Good was charged with felony aggravated driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, endangering the welfare of a child, and numerous traffic violations.
Good is scheduled to appear in Ithaca City Court at a later date to answer the charges.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
