A Tompkins County man has been charged with falsely reporting an incident following a police investigation in Cayuga County.
According to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, on the afternoon of June 17th, the Cayuga County 911 Center received a 911 call from Gavin Rushlow, who stated he saw a car driving erratically. He allegedly told dispatchers he knew the driver and saw that person drinking alcohol. Shortly after the call was placed, the 911 center received a call from the driving of the car stating that Rushlow was allegedly harassing him. An investigation determined that Rushlow falsely reported the 911 call.
Following his arraignment, Rushlow was released to appear in Locke Town Court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
