The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Throop man on a felony DWI charge.
On Sunday, deputies were dispatched to the report of a pickup truck traveling on State Street Road in the town of Throop that was driving erratically. Upon the deputy’s arrival, they observed the same vehicle commit traffic violations. A traffic stop was then initiated, where it was found that the driver and sole occupant, Shawn Mccormick, was allegedly driving while intoxicated. Mccormick was arrested and brought to the Public Safety Building for processing, where he gave a breath sample of .25% BAC.
Mccormick was charged with Aggravated DWI for a prior felony conviction, and DWI, previous conviction, felony.
Mccormick will appear in Throop Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
