Three NJ Residents Charged in Victor Wallet Theft

SHARE NOW

Three residents of Paterson, New Jersey, are facing multiple charges in Ontario County following an investigation into a stolen wallet at the Victor Walmart.

Authorities say 33-year-old Jose Albert Ortiz-Pariona, 28-year-old Karina Echegaray-Polo, and 27-year-old Josue Fernandez were detained after their vehicle was spotted in the Eastview Mall parking lot last Friday. Investigators allege the trio used stolen credit cards from the victim’s wallet to make over $2,000 in purchases at Apple, Lululemon, and Best Buy.

The case expanded the following day when another wallet theft was reported at TJ Maxx in Victor. Stolen credit cards from that incident were used to purchase $6,000 worth of items at Apple and Best Buy. During the investigation, officers recovered those stolen cards inside a toilet, where Echegaray-Polo allegedly attempted to flush them—resulting in an additional charge of tampering with physical evidence.

All three suspects are charged with two counts of grand larceny. While in custody, Ontario County authorities were contacted by the Silver Springs Township Police Department in Pennsylvania, which is investigating a similar case from February 13th involving suspects and a vehicle matching the description of those arrested.

The investigation remains ongoing.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
