A Syracuse man faces charges in Seneca County after 9-1-1 received a call for a man who had fallen out of his car and ran himself over in the middle of the road.
When deputies arrived at the location of the alleged incident on State Route 414 in Varick they found the vehicle had left the scene. The car in question was later found heading south in Romulus, where police conducted a traffic stop. They determined that 70-year-old Harold Matasar had an open bottle of alcohol in his car and he appeared to be impaired by prescription drugs.
After being checked over by EMTs and refusing medical treatment, Matasar was charged with DWI and criminal possession of a controlled substance
