A Syracuse man was arrested Saturday by the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office on an active bench warrant for failing to appear in court on criminal possession of stolen property and possession of burglars’ tools.
The arrest of Jeffrey Maddox stemmed from an unrelated incident in Onondaga County. He was turned over to Ontario County authorities by Onondaga County deputies at Exit 41 of the New York State Thruway and then brought to the Ontario County Jail.
The 27-year-old is being held pending arraignment.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
