An investigation by the Finger Lakes Drug Task Force into the sale of illegal drugs in Cayuga County resulted in the arrest of a Syracuse man.
According to the Task Force, based on its investigation, they were able to obtain a court authorized search warrant for Romello Gallman at a home within the city of Auburn that the 28-year-old was using to further his alleged drug sales.
On Tuesday, investigators with the Task Force executed a search warrant at the residence and found a quantity of cocaine, drug paraphernalia commonly utilized for the packaging and distribution of illegal narcotics and a loaded Taurus 9mm caliber semi-automatic handgun. Upon further inspection of the handgun, it appeared the serial number located on the frame of the handgun had been tampered with as the serial number had been defaced in an attempt to disguise or impede law enforcements tracking efforts.
Gallman was charged with two felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and two felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
Galmman was transported to the Cayuga County Jail for CAP arraignment. The Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office is requesting Gallman be held on $25,000 bail/$50,000 bond.
The Finger Lakes Drug Task Force is comprised of members of the New York State Police, Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office and the Auburn Police Department. The Task Force was also assisted by the Auburn Police Department’s Gun Involved Violence Elimination Team.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
