A Rochester man led Yates County Sheriff’s Deputies on a pursuit where speeds exceeded 100 miles per hour over the weekend.
Sheriff’s Deputies say they were conducting a separate traffic stop on Voak Road in Potter at around 6:45 Saturday night when Donald Symer allegedly passed the deputy at a high rate of speed and crossed the center line multiple times. The 71-year-old led deputies on a high-speed chase that ended on South Street in the town of Gorham.
Symer was charged with drunken driving, unlawfully fleeing a police officer, reckless driving, and a number of traffic violations. He was released to appear in Potter Town Court to answer the charges.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
