A Painted Post woman has been arrested on a series of charges following a vehicle theft and reckless conduct incident in the town of Thurston.

32-year-old Alesha M. Hunt of Victory Highway was taken into custody on July 9, 2025, after a report of a crash and an attempted vehicle theft. Investigators allege that Hunt stole a vehicle in Bath and was later found in possession of that stolen vehicle in Thurston.

Further investigation revealed the vehicle had no valid inspection or registration, and Hunt’s driver’s license had been suspended or revoked. • Grand Larceny in the Second Degree (Class C Felony)
  • Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Third Degree (Class D Felony)
  • Reckless Endangerment in the Second Degree
  • Stalking in the Fourth Degree
  • Petit Larceny
  • Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the Third Degree
  • Unregistered Motor Vehicle
  • Uninspected Motor Vehicle
  • Failure to Keep Right

She was arraigned in Steuben County’s Centralized Arraignment Court and remanded to the county jail.
