A Steuben County woman is facing felony charges following a joint investigation by the Sheriff’s Office, the Steuben County Department of Social Services Fraud and Legal Affairs Unit and the District Attorney’s Office.
It is alleged that in August, 64-year-old Diane Benesch knowingly and with intent to defraud, presented false documents to the Department of Social Services.
Benesch was charged with felony offering a false instrument for filing and misdemeanor petit larceny.
Benesch was released on an appearance ticket for village of Bath Court.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
