Steuben County Woman Charged With Firearm Felonies

SHARE NOW

State Police in Bath arrested a Steuben County woman on multiple charges stemming from a Steuben County Superior Court warrant.

36-year-old Stephanie Short, of Corning, was charged with transport of a firearm, tampering with physical evidence: conceal/destroy, and criminal possession of a firearm, all felonies.

The charges are related to a traffic stop in the village of Savona last June. An investigation revealed the passenger in the car, 35-year-old Jeremiah Mendez, of Naples, had outstanding warrants. A subsequent search of the car uncovered a handgun, live ammunition, and a bag of gun parts.

Mendez was also arrested on felony charges of criminal possession of a weapon and firearm.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
