A Steuben County woman has been charged with attempted murder following an incident on Saturday.
It is alleged that 25-year-old Annika Szathmary stabbed a man with a knife in the town of Pulteney, intending to kill him. It is further alleged that Szathmary caused serious physical injury to the man. According to the Sheriff’s Department, the victim was taken to a local hospital before being airlifted to a regional trauma center for further treatment, where he has remained since the incident.
The Sheriff’s Office Evidence Recovery Team and Criminal Investigations Unit conducted three search warrants, recovering the alleged weapon used in this incident.
Szathmary, who lives in Pulteney, was being held without bail.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
