Steuben County authorities say a Dansville woman has been arrested for allegedly receiving public assistance she was not entitled to.
It is alleged that between July 28 and October 31, 35-year-old Autumn Kosmowski submitted a false instrument to the Steuben County Department of Social Services and received $2,397 in benefits she was not eligible for.
Kosmowski faces multiple felony charges, including Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the First Degree, Falsifying Business Records in the First Degree, Welfare Fraud in the Fourth Degree, and Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree.
She was processed at the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office and issued an appearance ticket to appear in Village of Bath Court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
