A woman currently incarcerated in the Steuben County Jail is facing new charges following a joint investigation by the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, Department of Social Services, District Attorney’s Office and Village of Bath Police Department.
It is alleged that between December 1st and December 3rd, Julia Swift allegedly used another person’s benefit card issued by the Steuben County Department of Social Services. As a result, Swift obtained benefits she was not entitled to or authorized to receive.
Swift was charged with criminal possession of stolen property, a felony, and misuse of food stamps.
Following her arraignment, Swift was sent back to Steuben County Jail
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
