A major drug bust at a Hornell business has led to felony charges against the store’s operator and the seizure of more than 20 pounds of marijuana, cannabis edibles, and psychedelic substances.
According to the Hornell Police Department, officers executed a search warrant Thursday afternoon at a business located at 9 Canisteo Square. The warrant was authorized by Hornell City Court Judge Dave Coddington.
47-year-old Nicholas Morris, who operated the store, was arrested and charged with first-degree criminal possession of marijuana and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both Class D felonies.
Police say the building was red-tagged due to the illegal activity, and the case has been referred to the New York State Cannabis Control Board for further investigation.
Morris was arraigned in Steuben County CAP Court and released. The New York State Police assisted in the investigation.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
