A traffic stop in the village of Bath resulted in the arrest of a Steuben County man on a number of illegal weapons charges.
During the course of the traffic stop, Bath Police Officers suspected the driver of the car, Cory Vanhorne, of Avoca, may be in possession of illegal firearms. After a probable cause search of his car, Vanhorne was allegedly found to be in possession of multiple handguns, a semiautomatic assault shotgun, multiple large-capacity ammunition feeding devices, and a small amount of drugs. Investigators say one of the handguns and the semiautomatic assault shotgun were loaded.
Vanhorne was charged with 13 felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
