A Steuben County man is facing charges following the investigation into a domestic incident that occurred at a home on Sprague Road in Addison.
Upon arrival, Troopers spoke with the caller, 33-year-old Samuel Byler, who reported that the victim refused to leave him home. Byler allowed Troopers to enter his residence where they found the victim.
During the investigation, it was alleged that earlier in the day, Byler had pointed a sawed-off shotgun at the victim and would not let the victim leave his home. Troopers subsequently located a break-action shotgun with an approximately 18-inch barrel behind the residence.
Byler was taken into custody on criminal contempt and criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies, as well as misdemeanor menacing and unlawful imprisonment.
Byler was sent to Steuben County Jail to await arraignment.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
