An alleged incident involving a handgun on Halloween resulted in the arrest of a Steuben County man.
James Feenaughty is accused of threatening another Corning resident with a gun on October 31st. According to police, Feenaughty brandished the handgun before retreating into his home. Officers set up a perimeter and eventually made contact with him by phone. After a brief standoff, Feenaughty allegedly attempted to leave through the back of his house but was arrested without incident.
The 53-year-old was charged with two felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon and two misdemeanor counts of menacing.
Feenaughty was taken to Steuben County Jail for arraignment and was released.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
