A domestic dispute in Steuben County involving a loaded firearm and a two-month-old infant ended peacefully with the arrest of a 29-year-old man.
As State Police arrived at the Derby Hill Road home in Addison, they found a 25-year-old woman sitting inside a car visibly distressed. When Troopers approached the home, they spotted Nathaniel Brown inside armed with a loaded shotgun. Brown reportedly would not allow the 25-year-old woman to retrieve her two-month-old child from the home. Brown eventually exited the home while holding the shotgun and demanded law enforcement leave his property. While he initially refused to show both hands when directed, he eventually complied and dropped the shotgun. He resisted arrest as he was being taken into custody.
Brown was charged with felony menacing a police officer along with misdemeanor charges of criminal possession of a weapon, resisting arrest, and endangering the welfare of a child.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
