A Staten Island man is facing multiple charges following an investigation into a domestic altercation that led authorities across several Finger Lakes counties.

38-year-old Mitchell Pringle was charged with Criminal Contempt in the First Degree, Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree, Petit Larceny, two counts of Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree, and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Officers initially responded to a 911 call reporting an ongoing domestic dispute at a local hotel. Before police arrived, the parties involved fled the area in a vehicle. Officers were able to contact the victim by phone; she kept the line open, making it apparent to police that she and her children were being held in the vehicle against their will.

Authorities tracked the vehicle as it entered the City of Elmira. When the vehicle stopped for gasoline, the victim fled, and Elmira Police successfully stopped Pringle. Investigators discovered that the victim and two children in the vehicle were protected parties under an active order of protection against Pringle.

Following his arrest, police discovered Pringle was also wanted on an outstanding warrant from Massachusetts after being indicted for Cocaine Trafficking. Pringle was arraigned in Yates County Centralized Arraignment Part Court and held without bail due to having two prior felony convictions. He is also being held as a fugitive from justice pending an extradition hearing on the out-of-state warrant.

Pringle is scheduled to appear in Yates County Superior Court at a later date.

The Penn Yan Police Department was assisted by the Elmira Police Department during the investigation.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
