A Steuben County man is facing multiple charges after allegedly damaging property during a domestic dispute and later injuring a State Trooper during a traffic stop.

According to New York State Police, troopers responded to a report of a domestic incident and property damage at a residence on Addison Back Road in the town of Tuscarora. The victim reported that 36-year-old Timothy S. Payne of Addison had arrived at the residence earlier that afternoon and caused extensive damage before fleeing the scene.

Troopers later located a vehicle near Steuben Street in the village of Addison and initiated a traffic stop. The passenger initially gave a false identity but was later confirmed to be Payne through photographic identification and verification by the driver.

When troopers attempted to arrest him, Payne resisted, ignored commands, and physically struggled with officers, resulting in one trooper being injured. He was eventually secured and transported to SP Painted Post for processing on charges of criminal mischief, assault (physical injury to a police officer), and aggravated family offense, all felonies, along with misdemeanor charges of obstruction of governmental administration, resisting arrest, unlawful imprisonment, and false personation.

he fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
