An Ontario County man is facing felony charges after police pulled him over for driving a car with fake license plates on it.

The license plate bared this message: “All rights reserved without prejudice UCC 1-“According to deputies, that is common verbiage for those claiming to be Sovereign Citizens.

Upon making contact with the driver, later identified as Columbus Grady, Junior, deputies say he refused to answer any questions and provide any identification. The 46-year-old was detained pending the investigation. It was later determined that the plates were indeed fraudulent and designed in such a way to imitate being actual New York State DMV Registration plates. The vehicle was unregistered at the time it was being driven and Grady didn’t have a valid New York State license. He was subsequently arrested on charges of unlicensed operation, unregistered motor vehicle, uninspected motor vehicle, improper plates, operating without insurance and a felony charge of criminal possession of a forged instrument.

Grady was brought to the Ontario County Jail to await arraignment.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
