The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports that a Sodus woman has been arrested following a domestic dispute in the village.
Deputies say Ashley Butler was involved in an altercation at a home on Danford Street where she allegedly punched the victim in the face, causing bruising around his eye.
According to investigators, while the victim tried to call law enforcement, Butler grabbed his phone and threatened to damage it if police were contacted.
The sheriff’s office says the incident happened while the couple’s two children were present.
Butler was charged with assault in the third degree, criminal mischief in the fourth degree, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. She was taken into custody and will appear in CAP court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
