A Level Two sex offender and a six-time convicted felon from Buffalo has been accused of a sexual assault that occurred in the village of Bath.
Last Friday, Bath Police were dispatched to the area of the Super 8 Hotel for a sexual assault report. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the suspect, who was not known to the female victim, had forcibly touched her intimate parts. 49-year-old Mark Sherman was taken into custody on Saturday and charged with forcible touching.
According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Sherman was convicted in 1998 of raping a 16 year old girl in Buffalo.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
