SHARE NOW

An Owasco man has been charged with a felony count of Attempted Dissemination of Indecent Material to a Minor.

According to Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck, his office received a report that an individual was sending inappropriate messages to someone he believed was a 13-year-old girl. An investigation revealed that 31-year-old Christopher Sherboneau had been making sexually explicit requests and sending nude photographs to the supposed teen electronically.

Sherboneau was arrested on Thursday. He was then arraigned and held on $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Detective Baim at 315-258-3868 or use the electronic tip line.

The Auburn Police Department and FBI assisted the sheriff’s office in its investigation.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
