A Branchport man was arrested Monday after investigators say he failed to report a change of address as required under state law.
The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office said deputies arrested 48-year-old Paul Minguela at about 12:57 p.m. Jan. 12 at the sheriff’s office following a tip that he was no longer living at his registered address in the Town of Phelps.
Authorities said Minguela is a Level 3 sex offender and is required to report any change of address within 10 calendar days. Investigators allege he failed to do so, violating state Corrections Law.
Minguela was charged with failure to register a change of address, a Class E felony. He was issued an appearance ticket and released.
He is scheduled to appear in Phelps Town Court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
