A Cayuga County man has been charged with assault after a domestic incident earlier this year.
48-year-old Christopher Coleman, of Sennett, was arrested on February 3 and charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor, following an investigation into an incident that occurred on January 14.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies began investigating after a female victim, who suffered injuries requiring hospitalization, reported that Coleman had pushed her, causing her to fall. Multiple witnesses were interviewed over several days to piece together the events.
Coleman voluntarily turned himself in at the Public Safety Building, where he was taken into custody and transported to the Cayuga County Jail for CAP arraignment. He was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Sennett Town Court on February 11.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
