A Seneca Falls man has been arrested under Leandra’s Law following a traffic stop conducted by Seneca Falls Police.
The arrest of Bhavinkumar Patel stems from a traffic stop where it was observed by police that he was driving a car with inadequate license plate lamps. When police made contact with Patel, a two-year-old child was observed in the front passenger seat of the car without a proper restraint system. After further investigation, it was determined that the 37-year-old was operating the car while allegedly impaired by alcohol. Patel was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, and one count of aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child in the car under New York’s Leandra Law, a felony.
Patel was issued an appearance ticket to return to the Town of Seneca Falls Court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
