A Seneca Falls man was taken into custody last week following an investigation into a reported domestic disturbance.
The Town of Seneca Falls Police Department reports that 36-year-old Joshua Vanderwall was arrested on Saturday, after officers responded to a late-reported domestic incident.
Police say their investigation determined that Vanderwall was involved in a physical altercation with the victim approximately one week earlier. During the incident, Vanderwall allegedly struck the victim in the face. Authorities noted that a child was present and witnessed the altercation.
Investigators also determined that an order of protection was in effect between Vanderwall and the victim at the time of the incident.
Vanderwall was charged with criminal contempt in the first degree, assault in the third degree, and endangering the welfare of a child. He was transported to the Seneca County Law Enforcement Center, where he was held pending arraignment.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
