Police arrested a Seneca Falls man after they say he lied about his nephew stealing his Social Services benefit card was stolen by his nephew and used at an ATM without his permission.
An investigation determined that 55-year-old Charles Covert used his card at the ATM and was given the money he reported was stolen. It is alleged that Covert reported this to the police to receive money from Social Services for his rent. Covert was charged with falsely reporting an incident and making a false written statement.
Following his arraignment, Charles was released to appear in Seneca Falls Town Court at a later date
