A Seneca Falls man has been charged with a felony after he allegedly injured a police officer who was attempting to place him into custody.
The arrest of Jonathon Kopetchny stemmed from an incident on December 17th in which he caused a disturbance on Fall Street in Seneca Falls. It is alleged Kopetchny ran into a local business when police attempted to take him into custody and continued to ignore their commands while inside of the business. While resisting arrest, Kopetchny caused physical injury to an officer. He was eventually taken into custody and sent to Clifton Springs Hospital.
A warrant was later issued and Kopetchny was taken into custody on last Friday without incident.
Kopetchny was charged with felony assault, along with misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration, and disorderly conduct.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
