A Rushville man was arrested Saturday evening following a rollover motor vehicle accident on State Route 247 in the Town of Potter, according to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the crash at approximately 6:55 p.m. on Saturday. Following an investigation, authorities arrested 49-year-old Don Sipp.
Investigators said Sipp was traveling northbound on State Route 247 when his vehicle ran off the roadway and overturned multiple times. Deputies reported that Sipp showed signs of intoxication at the scene and was administered standardized field sobriety tests.
Sipp was taken into custody and transported to the Yates County Jail, where officials said he refused to submit to a chemical test.
He was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, speed not reasonable and prudent, using a vehicle without an interlock device, moving from a lane unsafely, and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the First Degree, a felony.
Sipp was held at the Yates County Jail pending arraignment in CAP Court.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
