The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office recently assisted the Cornell University Police Department with the arrest of a Rochester man wanted on an out-of-state warrant.
Alvonsey Manigault, 50, was taken into custody after authorities discovered he was the subject of an active, full-extradition warrant issued from Hamilton County, Ohio. The warrant relates to charges involving the Possession of Cocaine and Trafficking in Cocaine.
Following a confirmation from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office that Ohio authorities intended to extradite, Tompkins County deputies took custody of Manigault. He was processed as a fugitive from justice and transported to the Tompkins County Jail to await transport back to Ohio to answer the pending charges.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
