A Rochester man was arrested Monday after deputies say he dropped a bag of cocaine while entering the Finger Lakes Gaming Casino.
According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, 57-year-old Richard Cowley was going through security at the casino on State Route 96 in Farmington when a micro-zip bag containing a white powdery substance fell from his wallet.
Casino security immediately secured the bag, which deputies later confirmed to be cocaine.
Cowley was taken into custody without incident and charged with one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree. He was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to return to Farmington Town Court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
