Rochester Man Accused of Fleeing Traffic Stop with Crack in Seneca County

A Rochester man is facing charges after fleeing a traffic stop in Tyre Wednesday.

According to the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, Alphonso Mems threw suspected crack cocaine out of his car window while fleeing deputies at approximately 1:30a.

The 62-year-old was charged with felony counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Tampering with Evidence along with misdemeanor counts of Obstruction of Governmental Administration and Aggravated Unlicenced Operation.

Mems was held for arraignment at the Seneca County Centralized Arraignment Court.

New York State Police and the Seneca Falls Police Department assisted with the investigation.
