Update: More details have surfaced on the incident involving a man with a BB gun at Auburn Junior High Monday.
According to the Auburn Police Department, just after 3:30p, officers and Cayuga County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the school for the report of a male with a gun near the sports fields.
Thomas Ivery is accused of taking the gun and holding it in the presence of student athletes, causing many to run back to the school for safety.
Ivery was found a short time later on Grant Ave and found to be in possession of a BB gun designed to look like a real handgun.
Ivery, who is not a current student of the school district, was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Menacing, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon on School Grounds.
One person is in custody after allegedly flashing a BB gun at Auburn Junior High School students Monday.
According to the an automated phone call from Auburn Enlarged City School District Superintendent Jeff Pirozzolo, a man rode by the school’s girls lacrosse team, flashing the gun at them.
He was able to be identified by students and was subsequently arrested by the Auburn Police Department.
