A Steuben County man is facing harassment charges after allegedly following a person through multiple streets in the Village of Penn Yan and beyond.
Police say 23-year-old Kristoffer Johnson, of Prattsburgh, was the subject of a complaint received on July 5. According to the report, Johnson intentionally followed the victim in his vehicle throughout various locations in the village. The victim, while on the phone with 911, left the area but was reportedly still being followed by Johnson.
At the instruction of emergency dispatchers, the victim returned to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office, where the incident concluded.
Following an investigation, Johnson was issued a criminal summons for harassment in the second degree. He is scheduled to appear in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date to respond to the charge.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
